Vintage Mexican Oaxaca Blackware Pitcher. Signed.
This is a handmade Mexican Oaxaca blackware rustic ceramic pitcher, produced in the mid-20th century. These pitchers are characterized by their dark, often burnished finish achieved through a unique firing process. The technique involves using a fine-grained clay body fired in a cow-dung fire, and sometimes specific areas are burnished to create a black-on-black surface ornamentation. While they can be used for various purposes, they are also valued for their decorative qualities. The pitcher is signed and in great condition. No altercation to the patina in my possession and wear is consistent with age. See photos.
