Handmade leather fold-over clutch made in the Shantiniketan (sometimes spelled Santiniketan) tradition—this university town in West Bengal India is known for its leather bags and accessories
Leather is usually sheepskin or goatskin, tanned by hand using vegetables and hand imprinted with native motifs and designs
Main design features 5 musicians in native garb and a floral border—pattern repeated on back
Colors are deep red, green, and black on the lovely rich medium brown leather
10” wide front x 5 1/2” tall x 1” wide side
Approximately 4” deep
Weighs 5 ounces
Lining is black fabric
Bag has 2 zippered compartments and 3 sleeve compartments
Snap closure
Initials (of person who made the bag?) on untanned area on one side of inner bag
It’s a lovely handmade bag—and the new leather smell is magnificent
