Both tapes lock in place as they should and the Granddaddy of all Stanley tape measures the Chrome 30'ft'er can get ya 8ft on a good day without bending. These tapes while looking a lil rough have in fact been used really littles rattling around in my truck tool box didnt do them any favors. And I was just joking about the part about them lasting longer than my next marriage as I have a morbid sense of humor, I have tumors in the vertebra of my thoracic spine so If I don't laugh id probably cry but it is what it is.
